This thing is perfect for various purposes - whether to easily add a basic admin backend to a static HTML site or to build a full-featured Couch site. Since it is built on a php logic (essentially, to me it is a simplified php), it is helping me better understand php too.
Also, the forum is active and KK is very attentive and helpful in providing his support.
Run-tested Kirby and some ther too but Couch is deffinitely 5 out of 5, much recommended.

After reading an article ( http://goo.gl/rWvcBj ) about CouchCMS creator Kamran Kashif I decided to give CouchCMS a try.
I started with the tutorial ( http://goo.gl/w9Lt9C ) and I was very impressed with how easily you can set up a website with CouchCMS. You can use any HTML/CSS template and set it up with CouchCMS. It’s very easy in use and also very client friendly. Most of my clients don’t understand WordPress or other CMSes, but when they see the CouchCMS Admin for the first time most of my clients understand it immediately.
I’ve tested a lot of CMSes over de last few years and CouchCMS comes very close to what I have in mind as a webdesigner, with Couch I am less limited than other CMSes (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.).
The documentation is very extensive and well written and if you somehow stuck, you can always check the forum. The support is amazing. The creator of CouchCMS Kamran is very helpful and friendly. He quickly answered my questions in the forum or by email. And the rest of the community of the forum is also very helpful and friendly.
I am very pleased with CouchCMS and it’s a pleasure to work with! I can’t live without! ;)

The big pros are:
1. It is self hosted
2. you learn it really easy because of fantastic written tutorials
3. Decent support from the developer and the nice community
4. Just take your html design and throw in the Couch tags. Thats it!
5. easy integration in existing html templates
6. It's free
Both easy and powerful, and that is not an easy combo.

Being primarily a designer/front-end dev I needed CMS that would suit my needs, by that I mean ease of use without much PHP, templating engines, layout restrictions, etc.
Then I found about CouchCMS, it allowed me to retrofit my existing template into Couch within minutes. Also, areas that needed to be modified by client were very easy to setup.
That is just the basic part, I won't go into much detail now, but I will only say that CouchCMS also supports full e-commerce shopping cart, cloned pages, repeatable regions, editable regions, and many more.
Trust me, just to have cloned pages and repetable regions out of the box will help you create almost every scenario you can imagine.
Also, it has the best documentation I have ever seen when it comes to CMS-es, from tutorials to many references.
Maybe just one thing that would make it totally complete is some kind of user management, but hopefully that will come in the future.
