Well, this is the one. It needs almost nothing, is nice on resources in your server, requires NO sql which has to be nice if your board is going to be hosted at an ISP. It's a stable, reliable and highly customizable board and that what is not customizable, you can still edit in the code itself. I'm running two boards now and there's one that I've customized in a lot of ways outside the normal and did that just by asking on Dr Martinus' own board. You get the right answer in (usually) HOURS!

The system is SQL independent in that it doesn't use any database at all. Members details are kept in 16 files per person and forum posts are also in multuple files for each post. There is a security problem in that during the login process the URL contains the member's password. The system is OK for small groups but I wouldn't think its useful for largish groups, over 100 members. Nice look and feel though with a few rough corners, e.g. no automatic updating of page after selecting a new theme.

PBLang is the best php non-sql forum system ive ever seen. Installation really is painless, got my board up and running within 10 mins. The admin control panel does the job very well and the boards look and feel can easily be edited to your needs. Features on PBLang are similar to what you would expect with the big guys such as phpbb: members list, searcher, personal messaging, stats on the main page, bbcode etc... and still it doesnt need a database! I think the major selling point on this script is that the board is in many langauges so that people from around the world can have a online community in their prefered language. Plus the support in the forum is good. A little hitch is of the displaying of the user info in the url, but you only see it when you submit on login. and nowhere else. ;o) Other than that its a great product, im really pleased with my board and i know of people who like the board just as much as i do :-)
