My only beef is the inability to have sub forums, they have been promising that for almost 4 years now.......
Other than that it is very good and very easy to customize.

My full review is much longer than what they'll allow but I find their support superb, hosting options excellent, and the admin interface very user friendly.
I wish I could post my full review but it is way longer than the allotted characters. I have published it in the testimonials forum on their site though.
Better alternatives for less money.

I've used this software and watched its glacial development curve for 3 years. There are dozens of bugs and other issues that exist in WowBB. Fact is there are other forum packages out there (e.g., phpBB) which offer superior features at a lower cost/free. Official support is lax in responding. Community forums @ WowBB are censored to weed out bad exp's with the product/developers. And the development team excels at hyping vaporware ("WowPublish", now 3+ years old without a beta in sight).
I actually liked the WowBB script BUT..

However, the customer service was horid. It was run like a hobbiest site even though one had paid for the script. It was so bad that I orginally had PHPBB and then purchased Wowbb and found the customer service the same at the same level of PHPBB...PHPBB was free so one would not expect to get much service but when it's paid one expects more...They have almost no geek base code, and the owner is totally unwilling to answer questions about wowbb code or modifications. I when back to PHPBB
I miss the "Wow" in WowBB

There are currently hundreds of Bulletin Board scripts, of which the majority in PHP alone. One Bulletin Board contains more or other features than another. There is just one 'feature' I see in WowBB that I haven't seen in any other bulletin board, and that is the 'select users by location' feature with a spiffy map. However, it's nothing more than eye candy, and doesn't add any functionality or whatnot.
Furthermore, from a Bulletin Board being claimed professional and which even costs a pretty penny, I would at least expect the Bulletin Board's source code to be written in valid markup languages. In the demos alone, there are already numerious pages or features that either don't work or just look screwed up in a different browser, while they do work on SOME others, which proves the lack of proper markup.
I would like to add that WowBB does indeed stand out between the majority of other Bulletin Board scripts, simply because it's also packed with actually useful features. However, WowBB doesn't really make me feel "Wow", and with all the good Bulletin Board scripts out there that don't cost any money, WowBB would be the last thing I'd spend any dollar on for that matter.
A 2 for effort.

I have bought vbulletin v3 to replace an aging perl bulletin board. It is superb, the migration, performance, technical support are all first class. In terms of features has it all, and it is fast too. Completely recommended

I'm very impressed by this board, it solves alot of the issues of features in mainstream boards like VB, phpBB, Invision and so on.
For Starters, small things like emoticons actually go where you want them, not at the end of the message box, formatted text actually appears in the message box, there is no crappy code you need to deal with in the message box itself.
Additional features like mana facilitate community interaction and user power bases.
Appears highly editable, with simple table structures and a non cluttered design. Innovative user profile system. Buttons are fully graphical rather than form objects.
WYSIWYG editor will attract non developers. Tab system including recent posts etc is a very cool feature also.
I highly recommend it as an experienced interface designer, community builder and intermediate PHP programmer.
Don't give the controversy a second.
They're all kids.
To mutch eyecandy here!
