Impression Counter (With a db)
What's behind an image? Just about anything you there to be including a db. A typical image tag downloads an image to be processed by the browser an image tag that references an active server page can do most anything and output an image to be displayed as the final output to the user. This example will add one to an Access db (to count the number of impressions). The Access db will also add when the impression occurred automatically and redirect will send the user to an image to be displayed in the browser.

This is a text-based counter script that performs two functions. It increases the count by one, and then prints the new count to the page. If the ShowIP feature is enabled in the script, then the page visitor's IP will likewise be displayed. You can make the counter output appear in any font face, size, or color; just use font tags around the SSI include. If you don't want the counter visible on the page, make the color in those font tags the same as the background color of the page.

It has the ability to track an almost unlimited number individual counters (you could theoretically have 75,000 counters or so). WWW Homepage Access Counter and Clock
This is a CGI program to keep record of the raw hits of a web page. It generates a GIF image of the number of hits and returns to the browser as an in-lined image. The program also has a run-time option not to show the digit images, this way the hits can be kept without displaying it.
