In this video, we will discuss the ways of posting back page data. We start with the simple way of posting the information back to the same page. For that, we create a simple form that contains user’s first name and last name and a button that submits that information to the page itself. Then, we modify the form to post to another page. The way to do that is to change the PostBackUrl property of the button to the name of the page we are posting to. In the receiver page, we are able to read information from the posting page. We create two text boxes that retrieve the first name and the last name. This is done by asking the PreviousPage to find the needed controls with the method FindControl. Since this method returns a Control, we need to cast the result back to a Textbox. Now that we have the information we need, we create a greeting statement for the user coming from the sender page.

Data are stored on flat files (NO DATABASE needed). 2012-06-13 We improved the sript now by adding the possibility to display the newsbox resp. especially the news archive dynamically. This means, that you not only may specify the total number of news items but also the max number of news items to be displayed on one page. The script will dynamically divide the archive in as many pages as needed to display all the news items you want to have displayed. This improves your server performance as it does not need PHP executions and image processing at the later calls. When a browser first request an thumbnail, as it does not exists in the system, the web server redirects the request to 404 page (e404.php should be configured as 404 page). 404 page creates the thumbnail and saves the thumbnail to directory specified in the URL of the request. At later requests of the thumbnail, the thumbnail is served statically from the directory. The later calls does not cause PHP executions.
